DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT
OUR FAMILY...

WHO ARE THOSE
NAMELESS FACES IN
THAT PILE OF PHOTOS?

My family was in Arkansas in the Vilonia area and around Searcy. Few records exist about their activities.

Both my parents were born and raised there in Arkansas. I don’t have a lot of info on my father’s side; the pile of pictures from my aunt had no notes to tell what was what.

My mother’s family did a bit better, and I do have a family shot of my great-grandfather Arly Furgeson with his parents and siblings from back in the days of glass plate cameras. They had a farm in the Cypress Valley area near Vilonia, Arkansas.

My wife, Dale, also comes from a Southern family. Her grandfather, Merle Haywood Norton, used to drive the mule driven trolley from Marietta I think to Atlanta.

Her father went to the one room schoolhouse on Kennesaw Mountain through the eighth grade. She had a great great grandfather who was in Andersonville, who married a southern lady and homesteaded in Alabama.
